International Dimension
"We live in one world. What we do affects others - and what others do affects us - as never before. The world faces major challenges. The UK occupies a unique position in this world." (DfES, 2004)
As part of the Learning & Teaching Strand, the Excellence Cluster is developing and implementing an International Dimension strategy, "Putting the World in to World Class education in Southend". The strategy has emerged from a year long period of planning and consultation. It is coherent with, and complementary to, the DfES International Strategy for Education (2004), the Thames Gateway Regeneration Programme and the ambitions of Southend Borough Council.
Our Vision
Our vision is of Southend as a confident, outward-looking community, where educators, children and young people should have:
- The knowledge, skills and understanding to fulfil themselves.
- Opportunities to live in and contribute to a global society.
- The ability to work in a competitive global economy.
To realise this vision we have set three goals which will be evidenced by the achievement of an International School Award. This is the heart of our strategy.
